Overview
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of α-MSH and a metabolite of Melanotan II, acting as a melanocortin receptor agonist with high selectivity for MC3R and MC4R. Unlike Melanotan II, PT-141 does not have a free C-terminal amino group, resulting in distinct receptor binding characteristics. PT-141 is notable as the first peptide approved by the FDA for a sexual dysfunction indication, making it a well-characterized research compound with extensive published clinical and preclinical data.
