How We Verify Every Batch

Our quality process begins before synthesis and ends with an independent third-party analysis published for every batch shipped. No internal-only testing. No self-certification.

The Verification Pipeline

01

Synthesis & Documentation

Each compound is produced using solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) with documented amino acid sourcing. Batch records are maintained from synthesis through final lyophilization.

02

HPLC Purity Analysis

High-performance liquid chromatography establishes the purity profile of each batch. We require ≥99% purity at the reverse-phase HPLC checkpoint. Batches below spec are not released.

03

Mass Spectrometry Confirmation

LC-MS confirms the molecular weight of each batch against the theoretical mass of the target compound. This eliminates substitution errors and confirms correct amino acid sequence.

04

Independent Lab Certification

Janoshik Analytical performs final third-party verification. Results are published as batch-specific COAs — searchable by batch code directly on our COA Lookup tool.

Why Janoshik Analytical

We chose Janoshik because they are widely recognized within the peptide research community as the independent benchmark. Their methodology is transparent, their instrumentation is ISO-compliant, and their reports are interpretable by any analytical chemist.

ISO-Compliant Methods

Testing procedures follow internationally recognized analytical standards for pharmaceutical-grade analysis.

No Conflict of Interest

Janoshik has no financial stake in the result. Their only obligation is to the analytical truth of what’s in the sample.

Public Result Archive

Janoshik maintains a searchable database of completed analyses. You can cross-reference our COAs directly at their site.

Storage, Packaging & Cold Chain

Lyophilization

All peptides are lyophilized (freeze-dried) to remove moisture and maximize stability. Lyophilized peptides maintain integrity significantly longer than liquid formulations under equivalent conditions.

Nitrogen-Purged Vials

Vials are nitrogen-purged before sealing to eliminate oxidation risk. Each vial is sealed with a resealable rubber stopper for sterile reconstitution access.

Cold Storage & Shipping

Inventory is stored at -20°C. Orders ship with insulated packaging and cold packs rated for 48-hour thermal stability. Same-day shipping (orders placed before 2pm ET) minimizes transit exposure.

Discreet Packaging

All orders ship in unmarked exterior packaging. The shipper name on the label does not reference Bastion Peptides or any peptide-related brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our testing process and quality standards.

Why does Bastion Peptides use third-party testing instead of in-house QC?+

Third-party testing eliminates commercial bias. An independent lab has no incentive to pass a sample — their business depends entirely on reporting accurate results. In-house QC can be influenced by production pressures. We use Janoshik Analytical (Czech Republic) as our independent testing partner for every production batch.

What does ≥99% HPLC purity mean in practice?+

It means the target peptide accounts for ≥99% of the chromatogram peak area. The remaining ≤1% includes synthesis by-products, truncated sequences, or residual solvents at levels that do not measurably affect research assays. 99%+ is the accepted research-grade threshold for in vitro peptide studies.

How do HPLC and LC-MS analysis complement each other?+

HPLC confirms purity (the proportion of the target compound), but does not confirm identity. LC-MS measures molecular mass and fragmentation patterns, producing a fingerprint that is compared against the theoretical molecular weight. Running both tests verifies that what is in the vial is both pure and correctly identified.

What happens if a batch fails quality testing?+

Batches that do not meet ≥99% HPLC purity or whose LC-MS observed molecular weight deviates by more than 1 Da from theoretical are not released for sale. The batch is quarantined and the synthesis is repeated. A replacement COA from the new batch is issued before any product ships.

Can I verify the COA for my specific shipment?+

Yes. Every vial label includes a batch number that links to a specific Janoshik Analytical report. Use the COA Lookup tool on the Resources page to access your report.

How do I read a Certificate of Analysis?+

A COA from Janoshik Analytical shows: Sample Name, Batch Number, HPLC Purity (%), Observed Molecular Weight, Theoretical Molecular Weight, Test Date, and Analyst Signature. For a full field-by-field breakdown, see our Purity Testing & Quality Assurance guide.
